Department of Hindu Epistemology (Nyāya)
The Department of Hindu Epistemology, grounded in the Nyāya Śāstra, serves as a beacon for those seeking the Divine through the power of logic. Sage Gautam’s Nyāya Darśan, the authoritative scripture on logic, charts a course for a profound logical quest toward understanding the absolute Divinity.
Nyāya asserts that Divinity is the only true object of desire, the sole entity that is truly knowable and attainable, as opposed to the transient nature of the worldly. This department delves deep into the Nyāya philosophy which methodically dissects and discusses this concept through 16 meticulously structured steps of logical discourse, known as the 16 Padārthas.
By engaging with these Padārthas, students undergo a transformative journey that sharpens the mind and spirit. The department’s curriculum is designed to not only impart the profound tenets of Nyāya but also to equip scholars with the ability to discern and reason in the pursuit of higher truths.
